Sci-Fi fans, the future has arrived. Vivo, a Chinese company, has filed a patent for a smartphone with a detachable flying camera.
According to the patent application, the drone-like flying camera is housed in a small compartment in the smartphone. It will have a set of batteries, three infrared sensors, two cameras and four motorized propellers.
According to the patent information, buyers will have the option of adding two additional cameras. The infrared sensors will be able to measure distance to objects to help the drone avoid collisions.
The smartphone will look more or less like any other smartphone, but will include a small compartment where the drone will reside when not in use. If the concept takes off, it may lead to other similar drones as a new type of smartphone accessory.
